£16mil for Mascherano The Argentinian Ace

We are set to make a bid for Argentine World Cup ace Javier Mascherano. What a fantastic signing he would be, exactly what we need to add some muscle to our side of youngsters. It has been reported that his agent was at the Zagreb game and it could be brilliant business for us even if it is the £16 million transfer fee reported.

If we compare the fee to Michael Carrick’s transfer…another “defensive midfielder” even if they are different types of players and Carrick is English…I would still say this is a top transfer if it goes through… Hopefully there will be more on this transfer gossip shortly as the transfer window is closing very soon. Good day all.

    It wont happen

  • Anonymous

I agree with previous anon that it wont happen. If anyone does come in which is unlikely now unless we do a player exchange then it will probably be a £500k make do such as illiasu.

  • Anonymous

I doubt that Illiasu will happen as he’s now having a trial at Blackburn!

  • Anonymous

I think 16m is a massive amount of money for him as he’ll still have to get used to the play. I’d rather Hargreaves for that money who should slot in straight away.

  • Anonymous

i think if we got him all of u would not be sayin what your sayin. i have watch him alot since we were linked tohim when we were going to sell vieira to r madrid.
this boy is exceptional much better than hargreaves. he would be perfect because he is an engine in the middle of the park a ball winner and a hard man. if we do get him i promise u this will bee the buy of the season com on wenger get the chq book out!!!

  • Anonymous

Hey, haven’t seen this lad play though but from what i hear he might just be it. Our fixtures towards the end of year are not funny and personally i want us to win the league and C. league so lets do it. 16mil is a bit too much though, 10mil might be ok. Any word on Gallas + cash and Ashely swap (can’t wait)

Arsenal have no money, Rosicky was the last signing and Mascherano….HE AIN’T COMING……THE END!

  • ArsenalReview.com

Still seems the same from reports…£10mil plus Gallas for Ashley Cole…decent-ish so the sooner it is done the better in my opinion.

  • ArsenalReview.com

A-Man….that is without a doubt NOT TRUE…I dont know why arsenal fans keep going on about we are poor because of the stadium repayments…if Wenger doesnt sign anyone it isnt because of lack of funds…Especially if Cole leaves that will be £10mil at least….its all available without a doubt

  • Anonymous

you da man…..a-man…hit the nail right on the coffin!

  • ::A-Man::

Arsenal lose 3 major experienced players and bring in Rosicky. We play a right back at left back, Flamini played alot of his season at left back, although he is a right footed CENTRAL MIDFIELDER. We have no cover in the middle. Ljungberg has passed it and we have not much options on either flank. The only promising prospect of watching Arsenal is seeing Walcott make a cameo appearance! Arsenal should apply for income support, try and boost the clubs finances!

superb start 2 the season for utd dont u think?

  • ArsenalReview.com

    A-Man…Wenger just said this today:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists they have the cash to buy big if he wants to.

The Gunners manager, however, insisted: “Do not think that we do not have the money to buy anyone if nobody goes out, that is not true.

“It [buying] would be less needed [if no-one left]. But I can still buy.

“I can buy in January, I can buy now.

“You can play a little with the opportunities.”

Wenger insisted: “We have enough players; for me we have a team who can challenge for the Championship. We are good enough.

“The unfortunate thing is that we talk more about the players who do not play than the players that do play.

“But the players which play can win us the championship, not the players who do not play.”

Wenger has again decided against including Ashley Cole, who is fit, for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City.

He said: “I have opened the door, so I have to plan for life without him.

“After August 31, I will assess the situation.

“We will see what happens then – but we will do what is best for the club.”

  • ::A-Man::

We will see what happens means that we sell A. Cole, don’t get Gallas, NO WAY we got Mascherano or Teves and we import some Ivorian CB called Patrice Mawera who is half french and one of Wengers bargain buys with no experience, who initially is poor but seasons down the line becomes a star. In the short term we look pathetic, I’ll give us another season or two before we can challenge seriously for honours. Sorry to be blunt!

  • ::A-Man::

Shuddup you stupid chav! I hate dumb idiots like you where if you have an opinion that differs on yours on a club that we BOTH support (I doubt you support Arsenal bear in mind) you instantly presume them to be a spud. Be realistic you pratt! If you haven’t got anything good to say, SHUT YA MOUTH you plank.

  • ArsenalReview.com

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but please show respect for other members of the website as A-Man is a personal friend of mine and even if I dont agree with his ideas please show some respect….but would agree with you totally that it is all a bit unpredictable…nobody thought we would sign Rosicky…so you never know what Wenger has up his sleave.

    whose patrice mawera?

  • Anonymous

a man, we do have money, or have you been living in the past, even in the past we had money so you must be very very very old, maybe even ancient. I would get mascherano for 16 mil as we DO HAVE MONEY.

Sell cole, get gallas along with 10 mil 🙂

  • Anonymous

we had no money imo if we didnt qualify for the CL but since we have qualified I believe it frees up some funds which can be spent due to increased TV funds, sponsorship, aswell as extra prize money.

So there is now money that the board will make available which wasnt last week. Last week we had the money but wouldnt spend, this week we have the money, but still prob wont spend

Although I do hope we get Mascherano, would be awesome cover for the middle, but unlikely, since he is at a club who Abrohimovic has some relationship with so will prob end up at chelski more than likely.

“Arsenal have no money, Rosicky was the last signing and Mascherano….HE AIN’T COMING……THE END!”

LOL. I’m afraid to say you’re probably right.

I’m getting miffed as an arsenal fan with Wenger trying to somehow recapture the midfield magic we used to have that was, in part, down to a tiny bit of luck with everyone clicking at the same time, much like G*ggs, Sch*les, Ke*n and Beckh*m did at that shithole carpark in M*nchester. I think it will be good one day when / if Wenger goes into the background at Arsenal at is solely in charge of getting new talent, and we have some insane Van Basten-type manager that splashes da cash generated from our spaceship in Ashburton Grove.

    JOOOHOOOOO!

  • Anonymous

Hand bags hand bags. Bottom line is that we re-financed our loan based on future ticket sales and yes we have great deal of cash available if REALLY needed. Wenger’s no mug folks! he’s not going to leap into the transfer market chasing everything with a good reputation. Besides, the more speculation on how bad our finances are the better our position in potential negotiations.
    C’mon you GUNNERS! Bgooner

  • alodee

There’s definately some money available. Even though we haven’t sold much to generate funds, releasing fatty Sol, Bobby the Cavalier coming out of contract and the retirement of Dennis the Great has freed up about £9-million in terms of salary alone. Even if you take into account Rosicky and Thierry’s extra salary, the freed up money from the 3 leaving players, plus the money from selling Cashley Cole can allow us to buy Mascherano. In addition to this, we make more money from the Champions League via TV money and rewards than other teams (except Barca) due to our progress to the final last year. Estimates show that Barca stand to make £87m out of winning the Champions league due to TV money etc, and whilst Arsenal wont make that much, we will make at least £30m out of being in the final.

Whether we do go for Mascherano is another story, but Wenger was after him 2 years ago, but there were issues with work permits because Mascherano was not an Argentinian international at that point.

Half time at man city. Deja vu from last season. We need to sign a midfielder who can boss the game. This is pathetic.

  • Anonymous

hey isn’t corinthians the south american version of chelski and is owned by the russian bastard? n i know they splash money like chelski in south america.

  • aua

Mascherano is one of 3 players I have wanted Arsenal to buy for the last few years along with Rosicky (GOT HIM) and Torres, as I have mentioned quite a few times on this website. I think he would be an excellent aquisition and would fit right into the centre of our park, alongside the ever-improving Fabregas. One downside to him is the fact that he isn’t exactly the tallest player in the world, but that should’t be much of a problem as the rest of his game is excellent. Look at Makelele for a good, short player. I doubt we will be able to sign him though, but there’s no harm hoping and trying. And yes, I do believe we have the money to buy him, especially considering Wenger’s purchases (or lack of) in the past few seasons, the board cannot possibly refuse to provide Wenger with the funds he needs.

i just laugh when i hear stuffs like that, we have the money and if Wenger finds someone who can add strength to the team, he will. Irrespective of selling or not selling of those guys, i wish Reyes will stay and Cole leaves, Clichy will take over or Traore, and i think Wenger wants some english in the team , that’s why he is sticking with Hoyte, let Flamini play, and we will do great, Hoyte’s time will surely come, not yet, it will cause us dearly, but i still don’t worry about our loss, we played very well, the players are not yet focussed, they will in short time, we will win the league, mark my words.

listen to me. AW signs no1. Rosicky is a great signing but we need some bite in midfield. Mascherano would be great but as usual we wont get him. We need baptista, any1 else agree?

p.s get that man u supporter off, that daft twat

  • ArsenalReview.com

I agree Mascherano would be an ideal signing…but I dont think it will happen…hope it will though…

Baptista is a good player but more as an attacking player rather than in defensive midfield where he seems to find himself playing occasionally…even though he is “the beast” and strong and powerful, im not too sure he is exactly what we need right now. But to be honest its not like I watch him every week so im not one to make a judgement on a player I have only seen play a few games in…
