Carlos Vela To Join Arsenal Next Season NOT In January

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Mexican teen Carlos Vela will be part of his squad next season and not in January as earlier reports had suggested.

Vela is loan at Osasuna and Wenger said: "We scout him every week when he plays. He can apply for a passport in March and normally he will start with us next summer. He will straight away be with the first-team and after that it is up to him to get a place in the side.

I sent him to Spain because he comes from a Mexican culture and it is easier to adapt in Europe. He has what we like here at Arsenal. He is a good passer of the ball and a finisher. He has that intelligent movement with very good technique and great pace."

To be honest I haven't seen that much of him but the few video clips I have seen have been quite outstanding. He is highly rated as a young prodigy but time will tell...Watch this space.

Diary of an Insomniac – Thank God For Jose Mourinho, The Daily Politics Show and Wenger for Prime Minister.

By Bilal Zaidi

It’s been 72 hours without proper sleep...I feel erratic and bored to death with life....I’m ready to blow and my fist is quenching for a wall or a face...If I watch too much TV my eyes water...if I look at the laptop screen too long they water some more...I’m still bleeding from my nose like gash...I have spent the last 72 hours in torture with this hypnotising existence. I attempted to read lecture notes but felt the angle of my eyelids change...a magazine just made me dizzee like rascal...Lauren Hill on the iPod was sounding like a George Bush speech...the sanitary towel still hangs loose across my head like a head brace... AND THEN I FOUND HOPE...finally entertainment at it’s best...right now anything will do.

Arsene Wenger REFUSING TO GET SENT OFF last night was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. He stood there like a misbehaved child that had been told off in school but refused to budge...like the teacher told him to stand in the corner and he simply replied “NO” with a blank face ad blinky eyes...his face was silent and stood still like time had stopped.

And then I woke up from my 3 hour vigil of my bedroom to see Jose Mourinho issuing a “come and get me plea” to the FA. What marvellous entertainment once again...I have never been the hugest fan of “the special one”...probably because he was the Chelsea manager...but I can imagine myself liking him as the England coach. He can’t buy a Drogba or Essien but he would have JT, Gerrard and Rooney to fondle with. To see him say to the FA “if you want me come and get me” is pure Jose Mourinho....he wants to feed his ego even more and then decide whether to turn the job down....what a legend...life would be a lot more interesting if Mourinho was the England manager.

And then the “Daily Politics Show”...with prime ministers questions at Noon...This was a real treat...someone called the prime minister “Stalin turned into Mr. Bean” and the whole house erupted and the “HEEER HEEERs” kept coming out. WE PAY FOR THEM TO TAKE THE PISS OUT OF EACHOTHER ON A DAILY BASIS....sounds like my kind of job. I can’t believe the UK is run by a complete bunch of kids dressed in suits and posh ties and fake wigs and comb over’s....I can finally go to sleep knowing I am in great hands for the future. Arsene Wenger for prime minister.

Pascal Senderos Is Another Wasteful Wenger Centre Back Gone Wrong – Arsenal Run Comes To An End

By Bilal Zaidi

Last night Senderos played at centre back with the reliable Toure. He was joined by young Justin Hoyte at right back and an even younger Traore at left back....and not Djimi. Talking of Djimi, Senderos could also be compared to the Liverpool legend that is Djimi Traore in terms of his reliability in defence. You may know from yesterdays post that I am still recovering from an operation on my nose and bleeding continues today...but last night Senderos was to blame for a few spots of blood dripping painfully onto my clothes.

Every time he got on the ball I was worried...shocked...stunned...I had no idea what to expect from a rusty centre back who has always been rusty. The difference between his rustiness and Gilberto’s rustiness was simple...Gilberto really was RUSTY and Senderos was simply being himself. As much as I like to back young players in this Arsenal team and say they should have time etc etc...with Senderos it simply isn’t the case. Gilberto didn’t have the best game but in general this could be excused for his lack of playing time.

I USED TO HATE WHEN WENGER SUBSTITUTED PASCAL CYGAN ON IN THE 90th MINUTE OF GAMES TO SEE THE GAME OUT.

When he left for £2 million to Villarreal I was relieved that I wouldn’t have to go through the torment of another centre back that makes crazy mistakes on a regular basis. But I was wrong...Senderos has always been a player who makes mistakes even if some of his other defensive abilities are reliable. In the past he has shown he can at least head the ball but even that isn’t enough to hold down a place in the Arsenal team of even be our 3rd, or 4th or 7th centre back.

Who remembers Stepanovs, Luzhny...Cygan....now Senderos....they are four players that should never have played at the level they did for a team that they did.

I WOULD RATHER DJOUROU plays are centre back in January when Toure gets going to Africa...He is more reliable than Pascal Senderos and he has more pace....I would rather Gilberto plays...I wouldn’t even mind Alex Song right now....I just can’t take centre backs that aren’t even that brilliant in other areas making STUPID mistakes. If Gallas played yesterday I doubt very much that we would have lost 3-1. We may have lost 2-1...or drawn 1-1....but we could have lost 5-1 yesterday.

Qualifying early for the next round isn’t always a good thing...we now will most probably finish second in the group and the momentum would have been lost...AND we would face a tougher side in the next round. That could be Barcelona or Inter Milan.

As for the rest of the team, Bendtner I thought did a decent job and Toure was his usual self. Traore had a lot to handle with Navas and Alves down his flank with little help from a striker playing on the wide left of midfield. Eduardo took his goal well but he was never going to do a defensive duty that Traore would have needed against two world class players.

Hoyte didn’t do much wrong but that is his way of playing...he doesn’t do much wrong but nothing that outstanding either...I like that about him....he is a hard worker and a good athlete. He went to my primary school and his younger brother Gavin went to secondary school with me...they were both outstanding athletes even at that young age...his family has Olympic athletes in their blood and those two are no different. That is why Wenger has him there, he is an obedient young Englishman who is quick and agile...More importantly he is English in a team with one other Englishman...However he has Sagna a tremendous French international ahead of him after just signing a new contract with Arsenal last term. How long will Hoyte want to fight it out at Arsenal? Lets wait and see in January.

Previous young English “talent” such as Upson, Pennant, Bentley and Muamba have all left and play regularly for other premiership teams. Muamba is another player who is local and he went to school in Walthamstow with a few of my friends...they tell me that he says he likes Birmingham...we never got a chance to see him play at Arsenal because Flamini, Cesc, Diarra, Diaby and Denilson stand in his way. Bentley has shown he has real quality but I don’t think he would have ever fitted in with the style of our play. Pennant just kept getting arrested and out of all those players Hoyte seems like the least likely to do stupid things....his personality seems like his football...reliable and no nonsense. Good luck to you Justin.

We have a good few away games in a row now and I hope this loss in a team that wasn’t our first team won’t affect us in those games. With Flamini, Hleb, Gallas, Sagna, Clichy, Adebayor all playing it is another story altogether. Aston Villa vs Arsenal on Saturday (Should have the live stream available on this site by then)...Full preview to come...Check back for details.

Bleeding Like A Woman On Her Period, ArsenalReview.co.uk - Who am I?

By Bilal Zaidi

Good day everyone. I hope my title was appetising for you all at 3.30pm so you can all enjoy your evening dinner in peace. Then it’s on to Sevilla vs. Arsenal tonight, ALMOST an irrelevant game for us as we are simply playing for top spot rather than to qualify...I'm not complaining.

So...what the hell is this title about I hear you asking. Well, since I have been gone for such a long time as explained about a week ago...I thought any readers who read this blog regularly may be interested in who "Bilal Zaidi" is... AKA who is ArsenalReview.co.uk. The internet is such a blinding portal...where we get used to reading things written by people we never will meet or get to know. So by giving some insight into who I am...perhaps when you read one of my articles...you may get a feel for what I'm trying to portray.

Well let’s start from the beginning without longing it out...I'm Bilal Zaidi...sometimes written as Mohammed Bilal Zaidi....lets clear some things up....no I’m not a terrorist...yes I am born and bred in London, England...and yes I breathe the soul of Arsenal Football Club like many of you reading this.

I can be controversial...I can be random....I can chat a lot of nonsense too....but I try to be different and hopefully you may appreciate that from now on. I'm a second year university student at Imperial College London...And right now I’m bleeding like a woman on her period. Unfortunately yesterday I had to undergo a minor operation to help me to breathe through my nose and now I'm at home trying to pass time and controlling my bleeding through my nose with a sanitary towel wrapped around my face. How delightful.

So....what do I represent on the vast Arsenal blog scene? Well...I am from London and Arsenal is quite a local club even though I’ll be honest and say West Ham is closer to my home than Arsenal...but from the age of 5 I have supported Arsenal perhaps due to the influence of my older cousin. Ever since the age of about 12 I have followed Arsenal religiously...I try to go to as many games as I can but am not a season ticket holder at the moment.

I represent the intellectual generation of Arsenal fans but more so the Arsenal fans who don't want to just say "FUCKIN WANKER CUNT REF" or "FUKIN YIDO SPUD FANS".....even though occasionally I do enjoy a good old colloquial rant involving many a curse word. On ArsenalReview.co.uk you will find an analytical approach to the football world. Predominantly Arsenal football articles but also on European football occasionally and also the national circuit. I will discuss football in terms of results...Arsene Wenger and his unique philosophy and how it impacts our lives...transfers when relevant and honest...not made up bullshit...financial situations in the world of football and how this may affect the rest of the UK or the world.

ArsenalReview.co.uk is my website...I can write what I like and it is a place for me to share my views and get off my chest some of the thoughts my over thinking mind is conjuring up. But the number one thing here is that I like to SHARE my views...this means with the help of the readers and people that post replies...it makes the website a better place.

Also add to this that I am now putting live video football streams through this site...I am trying to improve what I am offering to my readers and website viewers. Anyone interested in publishing their articles on football are welcome to contact me...you will be published on this site with thousands of people reading your opinions and reviews. Just leave a reply in the comment section.

Also any advertisers interested on very good advertising rates to this key demographic with thousands of people visiting the site everyday...please get in contact via email.

I hope you continue to visit the site and continue to contribute to the site....Any comments are always welcome. Any predictions on tonight’s match? Come on you gunners.

Arsenal Eleven To Face Sevilla...

By Bilal Zaidi

The squad that has travelled to Spain for tonight’s game against Sevilla has been named:

1. Jens Lehmann
3. Bacary Sagna
4. Cesc Fabregas
5. Kolo Toure
6. Philippe Senderos
7. Tomas Rosicky
8. Lassana Diarra
9. Eduardo
15. Denilson
16. Mathieu Flamini
17. Alex Song
19. Gilberto
24. Manuel Almunia
26. Nicklas Bendtner
27. Emmanuel Eboue
30. Armand Traore
31. Justin Hoyte
32. Theo Walcott

The most likely team in my opinion is as follows:

GK-Almunia
RB-Sagna
CB-Toure
CB-Senderos
LB-Hoyte/Traore
RM-Eboue
CM-Fabregas
CM-Gilberto/Diarra
LM-Rosicky
CF-Eduardo/Walcott
CF-Bendtner

Bendtner is a definite to start...Flamini won't start according to Wenger even though he wanted him to...and I think Eduardo may get the nod up front if Wenger plays 4-4-2. He may go with 5 in midfield with a central 3 of Fabregas, Gilberto and Diarra or Denilson. He could also play Walcott up front but I think Wenger may want to give Eduardo a go up front in the champions league which probably suits him better for the moment since he is still apparently "settling in".

We have already qualified but Sevilla will want to get revenge for our 3-0 victory at home. It may be a good chance for us to see the likes of Traore, Diarra, Denilson, Bendtner. Bendtner did well against Wigan when he came on so let’s hope he can have a positive impact tonight. I would like to see him played with another striker rather than be stranded up front on his own, even though he is very strong as a lone striker. Eduardo or Walcott may like to play just off him so it could be interesting.

However, I think the fact that we are away AND we have already qualified....gives Sevilla a slight advantage. Sevilla are the bookies favourites but without jinxing it...My personal feeling is not the same. Other interesting matches today include Lyon vs. Barcelona and Stuttgart vs. Rangers who still have a chance of getting through to the next stage.

71% Possession Used to Be A Frustrating Statistic, 41% of Goals Scored in Last Minutes For Arsenal is more interesting...

By Bilal Zaidi

Gone are the days where Arsenal dominate a match and it ends in a frustrating draw. Yesterday Arsenal had 71% of the possession, an astonishing statistic in a league that is supposed to be “competetive”. I will be the first to admit a slight “un-easiness” when it got to 75 minutes and we were still at 0-0.

As Denilson got taken out by a Wigan player, Gallas and Heskey put arms in eachothers faces like a fifteen year old school fight after the incident...then Walcott got run over by Heskey just after the Wigan striker had been yellow carded. The foul on Walcott looked a lot more serious than it now seems to be but as Walcott came off for Bendtner I had a funny feeling that we were going to score late as our 41% of goals scored in the last 15 minutes of games this season shows.

What a fascinating statistic...don’t you think? 41%...that’s a huge proportion of goals...it would be even more interesting to compare this to other teams and our previous seasons. It seems however that this year it has become a promising trend that is becoming so crucial in our pattern of play.

With Flamini, Cesc, Hleb, Gilberto and Diaby all out...it was nice to see Diara and Denilson finally getting a chance. It is difficult for Arsene to accomdate so many midfielders who would all like to play in central midfield but this is the basis for our solid performances this season. We don’t have the biggest squad compared to our main rivals apparantly but in my opinion we have enough “numbers” in all positions. For example we have four or five players alone who can play at right full back. We have had some injuries this season already but I’m glad to see that it hasn’t had a huge impact or in fact any impact on our performances. Van Persie has been out for six weeks now and many thought that when he got injured it would be a huge blow to our scoring credentials. However, just as when Thierry left...others really have stepped up to score the goals. Ade and Cesc are both in the top five premierleague goal scorers with 7 and 6 goals respectively.

Overall...yesterday showed us that even without our starting midfielders...the team fight and determination is definately in all of the teams players. It could have easily been a 0-0 draw and the international break would have been “to blame” but it is good to see Gallas driving forward with aggression and nodding in a goal. It was fantastic to see Bendtner involved with both goals and also a promising site to see Rosicky score another goal.

Van Persie will be back soon and it will be a slight transition to the team which has been used to playing five in midfield apart from yesterday. We now have four tough away games in Seville, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Middlesborough. We entertain Chelsea on the 16th December at home also. A tough month ahead of us. Lets hope that as we did yesterday, that we can dig deep for the resources needed to maximise our points througout this chilling period.

Be sure to keep checking the live stream page to get access to the latest streams of the Premiership's and Europes biggest football matches. Any comments on Arsenals match against Wigan are welcome.

UK due to lose £2 Billion Due To England Football Exit

By Bilal Zaidi

The cost of England not making it to this summer’s European Championships could be around £2 Billion to the UK economy. According to the British Retail Consortium, the retail figures for beer, flat-screen TVs and fast food during the tournament would typically be around £600 million but that figure has been dismissed by experts who said a more realistic number would be £2 billion.

Simon Chadwick, Professor of Sport Business Strategy and Marketing at Coventry Business School, told the Daily Mail that the probable loss is more than three times that figure: "Evidence from previous tournaments shows that worker productivity normally increases as the England national team progresses through major tournaments and the 'feel good factor' takes hold. A successful run to the 2008 finals would have led to a £2billion bonanza for the economy," he said.

While those who do not follow football may feel relieved that the country won't be gripped by Euro fever next year, the impact on the economy should not be underplayed. Research has shown that sporting events contribute to three percent of the Gross Domestic Product each year and during World Cup and Euro football matches, takings in pubs, clubs and supermarkets rise by £35 million.

During last year's World Cup in Germany, supermarkets across Britain were taking an extra £124 million during each week England remained in the tournament while Sainsbury's reported a 70 per cent increase in beer sales during England matches.

Although the FA's Chief Executive put the figure at around £5 million, experts have said that this is grossly underestimated as media payments, merchandising sales and sponsorship deals would have brought in around £15 million.

The negative multiplier effect of England not even being in the tornament will carry through to many industries. The BBC who outbid Sky to show the matches in the summer alongside ITV will also be gobsmacked, with England or any of the other UK's representatives within the tornament, the BBC can expect lower viewing figures and therefore lower advertising incomes from this event. Lets hope Arsenal can make up for the huge dissapointment on Wednesday and do one over Wigan today. A full preview to come later on today.

And We Are BACK IN TOWN ! ! !

Good day all!

Since March 26th 2007, Arsenalreview.com (NOW arsenalreview.co.uk) has not been online. For the many readers that used to visit the site regularly it was a bit confusing as to what had happened....to be perfectly honest I am no different and I still don't know exactly what happened but it is all irrelevant now because ArsenalReview.CO.UK is now back. Re-bookmark this page, and check back for the latest articles from the world of football.

To give a quick explanation as to what actually happened, I can tell you that after a year of owning the domain arsenalreview.com, during a busy time for myself due to examinations etc, the domain name arsenalreview.com was swept up by another rival AKA DOMAIN THEIF as my domain had expired. Fair enough, but now I have finally had a chance to get things going again and I will be writing on here regularly just as in the past. The archives are still there for anyone who wants to have a little taste of the past.

It is not just me that is back...Domestic football is also back thank God and we play Wigan tomorrow at 3pm. I will try my best to get a preview up before then. Until then...good day and I hope to hear from you all soon.
