Everton 1-4 Arsenal - Arsenal Jump Above Manchester United To The Top Of The Table

By Bilal Zaidi

1-0 at half time...1-4 at the end of it. Perhaps the scoreline paints a picture that is slightly misleading but at the same time shows the "mental strength" that Wenger keeps talking about.

Eduardo showed his killer instincts with two goals, Adebayor came on to score from a Yobo and Howard miscommunication and Rosicky wrapped things up after good work from Adebayor and Diaby in the dying moments of the game.

In between all that, Bendtner was sent off for two yellow cards and Arteta was given a straight red for an elbow in the face of Fabregas.

A great second half performance to make up for the dull first from Arsenal. 3 of the goals of the 4 came from "long balls" which is not like us but it proved a good option in the end. A one match ban for Bendtner now it seems but that shouldn't affect us much since Adebayor was being given a rest today.

A great result which see's us leapfrog United to the top of the table as Upson's 82nd minute goal gave West Ham a 2-1 victory over last year’s champions.

The Top Four Of The Premiership Now Reads:

Team - Played - Points

Arsenal - 20 - 47
Man U - 20 - 45
Chelsea - 20 - 41
Liverpool -18 - 36

Liverpool face Manchester City tomorrow. Watch it through our live stream.

Now we have to prepare for our next match at home to West Ham who will be flying high after their victory over Manchester United today. More on that later on. Until then, good day.

Everton 1-0 Arsenal - HT - Manchester United Lose

Manchester United LOST 2-1 to West Ham and now we have a chance to go to the top of the league. Everton are winning 1-0 at half time from an Arteta scrappy goal from a corner.

TO BE FAIR we have been outplayed so far in midfield, we haven't created anything and look poor but lets just hope this is litterally a game of two halfs. At this rate not even 1-1 is on the cards, but I'm sure Wenger can get something going.

Gallas is now PASSED FIT FOR EVERTON TRIP

Everton vs Arsenal - LIVE VIDEO FEED

Also:

By Bilal Zaidi

About an hour ago I wrote that Gallas was "a doubt" for tomorrows trip to Everton, with Arsenal.com reporting that earlier. They have now updated this information and said:

"William Gallas is fit to face Everton on Saturday but Emmanuel Eboue and Theo Walcott will be rested for the trip to Goodison Park."

Latest team news will be posted up tomorrow but from the commnets it looks like either Bendtner, Eduardo or Diaby will be in for Eboue as I predicted an hour ago since Wenger knows how much tough our schedule is at the moment. Although with Eboue going soon to the African Nations Cup, I thought he may want to get the most out of him before he has him missing...

ALSO...with Eboue being "rested" you would think Walcott would be a natural replacement on the right, but it seems like Wenger may want to go with a 4-4-2, or he may slip Eduardo on the left side of midfield (which I hate by the way)...There are a good few options to change it about, lets see how it goes. Anyway, enough of me...good day all.

Van Persie and Gallas BOTH OUT for Everton Game

By Bilal Zaidi

The bad news that Robin Van Persie will be joined by William Gallas as a "doubt" for tomorrow's game away at Everton is a big blow. I said on here hours before the Portsmouth game that you might fancy a cheeky punt on Arsenal having a clean sheet with Portsmouth now failing to score 6 times out of the last 7 games at home.

Everton are a good team at home (6-1-2) and have been in good form recently. With Gallas out I think they may be as tough Portsmouth, even though Everton's home form is highly superior to Portsmouth record of 2-6-1...with Everton winning 5 out of their last 6 games at home.

Our away record of late has been slipping, with a draw at Portsmouth, a loss at Middlesbrough, a draw at Newcastle and a win at Aston Villa where to be honest we were lucky to get all three points. That is 5 points from a possible 12 and has been the reason for our minor slip at the top of the table. Let’s hope we can get things back on track tomorrow...with a change in the starting eleven possible with Wenger wanting to rotate at this hectic time of the season.

Possible players to come in include Bendtner, Eduardo, Walcott or Diaby...However, I won't be surprised if Wenger goes with the same 5 in midfield as he has for the last few games in:

Rosicky, Flamini, Fabregas, Eboue and Hleb as a loitering man just behind Adebayor. Any more team news will be up soon and don't forget you can watch this game and other premiership matches from the live stream page.

Good day all.

Good day all. Some fantastic games already today, with the 4-4 with Chelsea and Villa the pick of the bunch. With Chelsea dropping points, Liverpool and United picked up three points from Derby and Sunderland respectively...even though it was only a 90th minute goal from Steven Gerrard to win it for Liverpool.

We have to win tonight in order to keep the others chasing...but with Portsmouth doing so well this season this is going to be a tough task. However here are some interesting statistics:

-Arsenal have won 3 of their last 6 away games, losing to Middlesborough on their last outing and drawing with Newcastle the game before that.

-Portsmouth's away record (6-1-3) is a lot better than their home record (2-5-1). However this is probably due to the fact that the style of play with quick African wizards works better away where teams attempt to play more than they would when visiting Pompey. ARSENAL WILL HOWEVER BE A DIFFERENT SORT OF OPPONENT SINCE THEY WILL ATTACK AND GO FOR 3 POINTS RATHER THAN BE CONTENT WITH 1 POINT...many teams this season would come to Pompey expecting a draw to be a good effort. This is why I think they have been slightly more open at home.

- In the last 6 home games, Porstmouth have not scored in 5, and the other they scored 7 against Reading in that 7-4 game.

This is a tough one to call but I would go for an Arsenal win, and if you fancy a cheeky Christmas punt you may be interested in the fact that in the last 6 home games Portsmouth have failed to score in 5 of those games.

Bet365 are offering tempting odds considering how well Arsenal have performed this season (1.80). You are also entitled to £100 free bets because you are being referred by our site. Don't miss the great opportunity to get some late Christmas money to splash out in the January sales.

Apart from that I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and hopefully 3 points for us today will be a nice late Christmas present. Good day everyone.

Arsenal Eleven To Face Tottenham In Todays Derby...VAN PERSIE BACK?...

By Bilal Zaidi

Against Chelsea we saw Eboue stretchered off the field with, what looked to be, a bad injury. However it now seems that he may be ready and fit to play. As soon as Van Persie came on the pitch against Chelsea he was causing all sorts of problems...Scoring a goal that was ruled out and knocking a similar right footed shot over the bar a bit earlier. For someone who's been out for two months he looks awfully sharp. Perhaps worryingly for Spurs today.

TODAY MIGHT BE THE DAY TO UNLEASH THE DRAGON...BULLET BULLET VAN PERSIE can be the explosive spark that could make us revert to a 4-4-2. When Eboue went off that match I said to my friend that it was good timing in a cruel way. Not that I wish for an Arsenal player to be injured, simply saying that it was at a time where Van Persie who was playing brilliantly before he got injured on international duty, was just coming back into the team. I expect today’s team to be the following:

Almunia
Sagna
Toure
Gallas
Clichy
Hleb
Fabregas
Flamini
Rosicky
Van Persie
Adebayor

The only change I can think is possible from this line up is of course Eboue for Van Persie depending on how Wenger wants to play. The 4-5-1, which employs three playmakers, an inside dribbling wingback turned winger and Flamini....has worked well for us. However, Van Persie's talent is hard to keep on the side for too long. Wenger may be tempted to throw him in today because Van Persie is a big player who will respond to big occasions...today is our local derby and is a huge occasion even though it may have little significance compared to previous seasons.

I remember many were saying at the start of the season that Spurs could snatch the 4th place position that we were apparently going to miss out on this season...after Adebayor scored those BANG BANG goals last time against our rivals, today will be interesting to see the progress this young side has made in this maturing season. How much have they grown up?...We will see today.

What To Expect From A Tasty Tie In The Champions League

By Bilal Zaidi

So the draw for the next round of the champions league has thrown up some great matches. Lyon face the mighty Man United, Liverpool get a tough tie against Inter, Barcelona take on the passionate Celtic and Arsenal face world player of the year Kaka's team; AC Milan.

Here is the full draw:

Celtic v Barcelona
Lyon v Manchester United,
Schalke 04 v FC Porto
Liverpool v Internazionale
AS Roma v Real Madrid
Arsenal v AC Milan
Olympiakos v Chelsea
Fenerbahçe v Sevilla

What is there to say about AC Milan. Well AC Milan have just won the world club championships after beating Boca Juniors in the final 4-2. But in their domestic league they aren't doing so well so far this season. They are lying 11th in the Italian Serie A but have played 3 less games than most other teams. If they won those 3 games and gained an additional 9 points they would shoot up to 5th behind Udinese, Juventus, Roma and Inter.

The most interesting statistic is the fact they have yet to win a game at home. They have drawn 5 at home and lost 2. Scoring only 3 goals at home and conceding 5....a very odd statistic indeed.

By the time we get back to the champions league on the 20th February, this statistic most probably would have changed. AC Milan face Inter Milan this weekend (watch it live from our streaming page) and this will give us a good indication as to how this team will come up against us.

My gut feeling is that it is a difficult tie but it could have been worse. They are beatable especially with such a contrast in different worlds. With the exception of Kaka, Milan are a solid typical Italian outfit with aging players. Arsenal are a young, bright, quick team full of players with flair and enthusiasm. It will be an interesting affair.

Boxing - Mayweather Masterclass Set To RETIRE and Khan Demolishes Earl in 72 seconds!..

Bilal Zaidi

I just wanted to add a note on the big fight last night. Unlucky to Ricky Hatton but congratulations to the fine fighter that is Floyd Mayweather. As a British Ricky Hatton fan last night I will be the first to admit that the result was a fair one and Floyd Mayweather showed true class in his performance. Ricky held it up for ten rounds before being knocked out by "our generations greatest boxer". It seems from Mayweather’s comments that he will retire and continue in promoting instead and fair play to him.

He said, "I have achieved everything I wanted in boxing and now it's time for me to go into promotion."

He was in his own nation, Las Vegas, where he now lives and yet it sounded like an England football match at Wembley! However it shows his class that he still managed to perform to an outstanding level. It was a great occasion marked by two great men. My conclusion was that even though Ricky is a fighting peoples champion...he is a FIGHTER compared to Mayweather who is a BOXER in a superior class to Hatton.

He was gracious in his victory and his accuracy in his punches astounded me. His victory over De La Hoya was superb but last night was a master class of a performance. Hats off to Mayweather a true boxing great. It is hard to compare fighters in different weight divisions and in different era's but it was proved last night that in any generation Mayweather would be a top boxer comparable to all the legends of the sport.

It is true to say, what else can he do? He has accomplished all he wants and as he said, "I want to retire from boxing and not let boxing retire me". I wasn't his biggest fan in terms of the way he was so cocky before fights but I have always appreciated his boxing ability. His speed, timing and accuracy was amazing last night. Hatton did well for the first few rounds and I think the hype of the crowd allowed him to take the first few rounds but after that Mayweather came back strongly after stumbling in the first round. He got caught off balance so early on and after that later he turned and face away from Hatton and almost fell out of the ring as Ricky Hatton got penalised for hitting him on the back of his head.

The referee did seem to stop the momentum too often in the opening rounds where Hatton really looked dominant but it is Mayweather who used all his experience and tricks of the trade in maximising his boxing performance. He would keep using his forearm and get in close to calm things down and as Hatton turned around after being penalised to the amusement of Mayweather and the crowd watching it was this moment that I knew Hatton wouldn't make it. The occasion was huge for Hatton, his story coming from a council estate in Manchester to the gilts and glamour of Las Vegas in the "biggest fight of the decade" was beautiful but without the fairytale ending as Mayweather out performed Hatton. Hatton lost his head and Mayweather’s efficiency was admirable, on the inside and outside. His defence was comparable to Rahul Dravid in cricket terms, solid as a wall and not allowing Hatton any space to land many clean shots.

Unlucky Ricky you still did the nation proud with your brave performance and after being knocked down after a flurry of punches he still managed to jump back up…what a warrior!

Also well done to my man Amir Khan who knocked out Graham Earl in 72 seconds! Even though some are saying the referee shouldn’t have stopped the fight it was obvious that Khan simply overwhelmed his opponent and about 12 punches landed in Earl’s face before the ref had to jump in.

It was his biggest fight so far in terms of quality opponent and he breezed through it with flying colours. His hand speed is exceptional but I didn’t like the way he was boxing in his last fight. Continuously keeping his hands down and his face exposed really frustrated me but in the 72 seconds of this bout he didn’t do anything wrong at all. His punches were clean, timed to perfection and landed nicely with awesome power. Good luck to Amir Khan in the next year and I hope he achieves all his goals and more and proves any doubters wrong.

Middlesbrough vs Arsenal - Preview and Starting Eleven

By Bilal Zaidi

Today we are once again without Hleb, Fabregas, Diaby, Flamini and Van Persie. Any team missing these players is going to have trouble replacing the quality that they take bring to the team but our apparent strength in midfield means we have the likes of Gilberto, Denilson and Diarra to cover up. I got our line up prediction against Newcastle correct so let me have another go at it. Wenger said he wants to rotate so this could mean a few things....I have a feeling that if he plays 2 up front then Walcott might get a run out this afternoon:

Almunia
Sagna
Toure
Gallas
Clichy
Eboue
Gilberto
Denilson
Rosicky
Adebayor
Walcott

However, Walcott could be exchanged for Diarra if we play 5 in midfield....It is hard to predict exactly because Wenger said he will "see who is in the best condition" after so many tough away games. Our next three games out of four are at the Emirates including Chelsea next Sunday.

I want to see Eduardo play up front rather than on the left of a five in midfield...but without Fabregas or Hleb in the same team I don't know if it is fair to judge him. Even though so far in recent times he hasn't shown much to us, he hasn't really had much creativity behind him. He has scored 5 goals in 9 starts in all competitions...lets just give this guy some "time to settle in properly" as Wenger likes to talk about. I don't think Middlesbrough away in December is the best fixture to play him in but if he does then lets see what happens. I personally would like to see Walcott get a chance and perhaps even Bendtner.

Middlesbrough are 18th in the league but it is fair to say their performances have been better than their position shows. If we get down and play then there shouldn't be much of a problem but without Fabregas or Hleb it is hard to see where a goal will be created from. Rosicky needs to stand up in these sorts of games as the "senior first team player" in midfield. Also I would like to see more from Eboue today if he starts again in midfield. He did provide the cross for Ade to score that goal against Newcastle last week but apart from that he didn't show much creativity.

I have been to Middlesbrough before, it's not so much of a "shit hole" as perhaps reported in the media. They said in the papers that it was the worst place to live in England and even though I can understand certain parts of that, I can also say that to be perfectly honest if that is the worst place to live in England then it's safe to say England isn't such a bad place to live in. I don't think the newspapers have been to some of the places I have in London before they started saying that bold statement.

Good luck to the lads today and enjoy the live stream from this site (open in internet explorer):

10 Things That Have Transformed Arsenal From Frustrating To Fantastically Efficient Part 2

By Bilal Zaidi

This is part two of yesterdays article "
"10 Things That Have Transformed Arsenal From Frustrating To Fantastically Efficient"

This was written yesterday before the Newcastle match so I may have jinxed the 1-1 draw...you can read my match review later today and tonight watch the live streams of football from this site.

- Fabregas Adding Constant Scoring To His Already Consistent Form

Fabregas for a good number of seasons now has been a consistent performer and has shown his great ability in his general team play. EVEN WITHOUT GOAL SCORING FABREGAS WOULD GET INTO MOST TEAMS in my opinion...but the fact he has now added his goal threat to his attacking play makes him one of a kind. There isn’t really a player around you can compare him to...I hope he can sustain his goal scoring form throughout the season. His goal threat has taken him up a level to the world class level. Even though his overall play in the last two seasons alone would have put him up there in my opinion anyway, but now there is no exception. When talking of the best players in the world, Kaka, Ronaldo, Messi, Gerrard…if Fabregas can sustain this through the season he will definitely be in that league of players...this may be debatable amongst non-Arsenal supporters...yours views are always appreciated.

- Hleb having a more free role

In recent games and in the beginning of the season Hleb has played as second striker or in the “hole“ or just in front of the other midfielders…behind the striker. He isn’t stuck on the right flank and now he roams more freely. Even when he has played on the right he has looked a lot more free to loiter and make things happen which he has shown he can do, none more so than against Villa on the weekend. He missed him last night badly. Hleb has received praise from me since he has been at the club but this season he has again taken it up a notch like the rest of the team. He has become a crucial component in our creative play and has a huge role in the side now more so than ever before.

- Nobody expecting Arsenal to be where they are now

People were talking about Arsenal not making it into the top four of the league this year. The expectation was low because every season we have lost big player after player...Vieira left, Pires left, Bergkamp retired, Campbell left, (C)Ashley Cole left, Lauren left....These were all HUGE players for Arsenal and to replace even one of them is difficult enough but every season another was allowed to leave. Then the final “nail in the coffin” was when Henry...Mr. Arsenal...was allowed to leave to go to Barcelona this summer. How would we cope? I heard people talking about us becoming another Leeds United....now I will admit that I never took it that far myself...I predicted with my friends before pre-season that we would comfortably finish in the top 4 and that I had an “optimistic feeling“ about the season...but with Chelsea, United and Liverpool spending large sums of money in superstar players in recent seasons and us losing our “star” players...the natural progression is thinking of the worst. With expectations so low, it has helped us to use this as a push off point to stun everyone. Yes we haven’t won anything yet but even up until this point it has been a proud moment to see our team do so well after two seasons of frustration.

- Eboue’s penetrative play further up the pitch with less defensive exposure

Eboue is a bit of a random player. He clearly has something to add to a team...his drive and penetrative play on the right flank is something we don’t really have much of in our play. Nobody else really offers what he does, perhaps Walcott but right now he is a lightweight when playing on the wing. However, Eboue lets himself down with his random falling over and play acting...I have always been a fan of Eboue even when others have said otherwise...but I will be the first to admit his tendency to make something out of nothing makes the team look stupid and it angers me to see him keep doing it.
