Eduardo Shocking Injury CLOSE UP PICTURE and video....

I was sent this by a friend, I don't know the legitamacy of the image but I thought I would share it anyway.
You can see the video on youtube.
I was watching it on Sky and I missed the challenge to be fair but the most surprising thing was that they didn't show a reply. In the words of the commentator: "We are not showing you the replay because we believe the footage is too horrific to broadcast". Oh My.
Eduardo is out for the season and from what we have heard so far, that is the least of anyone’s worries because in Wenger's words "more than the season is over". Wenger's post match interview and the players reactions showed that what happened to Eduardo was indeed "too horrific to broadcast" and I can just hope that we can see him playing football again.
Get well soon Eduardo, we all wish you the best.
Also, watch our live streams of all the matches including tomorrows carling cup final between Chelsea and Spurs from our live video streams page.
UPDATE: You can see close up pictures from the following website, please be aware they are not pretty pictures so please be warned before you look at them.

for the first time I can remember, I did not care wether Arsenal won or lost. I did not care about our performance, I did not care about winning the league. I didnt think about the champions league, or any of the games we have to come.
I truly feel sick, sick to my stomach. we must has a club and its supporters completely get behind Eduardo's recovery. We must forget about him playing football, we must think about him walking again and leading a normal life.
I am not a god fearing man, but my prayers will be with him and his family tonight
and do you yourself a favour, and do not look at any of the images around the various web sites, they will not sit well with you.
I STRONGLY AGREE WITH THE FIRST COMMENTS AS ARSENAL FANS AND FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS I BELIEVE TAYLOR SHOULD SURELY BE BANNED FROM PLAYING FOOTBALL HE HAD NO BUSINESS BEING ON THE PITCH IF THAT WAS HIS INTENTION AT STOPPING HIS OPPONENT http://www.petitiononline.com/.....ition.html.
VISIT THAT SITE TO PLEASE SIGN A PETITION BANNING HIM FROM PLAYING AGAIN. A MAN'S CAREER HANGS IN THE BALANCE HIS LIVELIHOOD THREATENED AS WELL AS HIS FAMILY , TAYLOR SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO EARN A LIVING BY DEPIVING A FELLOW BALL PLAYER OF HIS.....PERIOD !!!!!

None of the links work. The Youtube one has been taken off
Some of the comments about Taylor are totally irrational. He mistimed his tackle which had terrible consequences. But such tackles happen all the time. Wenger is wrong on this, badly wrong. If he also wants to clamp down so hard then his players who really did attempt to take out Nani the other week shoudl also be banned for disgusting intent.
Hope that nobody minds me coming on here as i am a pompey fan. Just want to say that i hope that Eduardo makes a full recovery and that his career has not been taken away from him. He is an exciting player to watch, i wouldn't wish the injury on anyone.
Sorry anonymous, but as a professional footballer, Taylor would know the possible consequnces of such a challenge, and, quite, simply, such challenges should never occur. A few rash kicks at Nani's ankle were intended to annoy him not cripple him. I can only presume that you know nothing about the game of football, and are quite possibly a ManU fan who is secretly a little bit pleased by the Eduardo incident.
Back to reality - there are now 6500 signatories to the above petition - quite amazing in just a few hours.
Let's get this in reality. I had my leg broken by a similar challenge and had 6 months recovering. It happens, that is football. I did not hold it against the person. I cannot believe these idiots calling for Taylor to be banned for life. Let's stop everyone getting on the back of Taylor and get back to what really matters, wishing Eduardo a speedy recovery.
An Arsenal fan!
I'd just like to say, as I posted the first comment, I do not think that Taylor should be banned. Whilst I can completely understand AW comments (he is just as passionate about our club as we are), footballers are all in the same union and should be the ones looking at the awful awful challenge on Eduardo. The players themselves should distance themselves from challenges such as this and we as supporters should neither condone or offer words of support to any player that commits a foul like this.
I dont think I will get over seeing this terrible foul for a long time, I am sure no-one, regardless of whom they support will feel the same.
thank you for listening.
Sorry mjc but exactly what credentials do you have to suggest you know best? And perhaps you should revisit the wild Flamini attempt. As for your comment on a ManU fan secretly pleased well that only tells me that you like your manager resorts to emotional jibes when faced with an argument you don't agree with. I am not a ManU fan and I find the idea that someone could be pleased with this outcome disgraceful. You also assume that Taylor did intend that - i don't think that he did but because of your assumptions the rest of your rather pathetic points follow on from that.
If one takes the view, as one poster above does, that footballers like Taylor woudl know the potential consequences of such a tackel then a huge number of players are going to have to be banned regardless of the outcome. A more sensible measured approach would say that yes we need to deal with bad mistimed tackles, and that we hope of course Eduardo fully recovers but we also have to recognise this is professional sport where a small mistake can result in very bad injuries.
http://www.petitiononline.com/mataylor/petition.html
i think the ref was really unfair to send taylor off so early on in the match. ONE MARTIN TAYLOR!!!
Yeah... This is not the first time this has happened to an Arsenal player, Diaby's leg was also broken by an English player, now I really understand this so called English Grit... that’s why the last time England won anything was in 1966 and that is at home with everything ringed in England's favour.
i would say it was a moment of madness but later on this Birmingham crack head seems to be enjoying when Eduardo screaming in agony. if justice is done this guy should get more than petty 3 match ban. It is sickening, a brilliant Eduardo's career may end here. and its so sad to find there are vested quarters trying to shield this maniac, and this same quarter envied the style of Arsenal's football. I would support Arsene Wenger's comment, he should have more than 3 match ban.
get well soon eduardo,
come back with all guns blazig in 5,6 months
hope that leg glue togeather soon
First of all, my thoughts are with Eduardo. It's a real shame. However football is a contact sport and these injuries happen. If it can be proved that Taylor did it on purpose, fine, ban him. If not, GROW UP! Pro footballers spend so much time rolling about on the floor acting when nothing is wrong. No wonder there is such a fuss when someone actually gets hurt. Sport...?
as a spurs fan i am probably the last person you would expect to be leaving a comment but that tackle just completly sickened me to the stomache. taylor should never be allowed to play football again as the great prospect of a great footballer may have been ruined down to his horendous challeng
get well soon eduado!!!
Fine, Eduardo's career may be ruined. Ban Taylor and you ruin a second career for what was a mistimed tackle - a pure accident. This is people we are talking about here, not just goals and trophies!
CALLING ALL TRUE GUNNERS. Taylor smirking must not be brushed under the carpet by the mainstream media. Email the Sunday newspapers with the following picture of him grinning
http://www.index.hr/images2/Taylorsenasmijesio.jpg
Surely with enough pressure at least one of the papers would print it, instead of just talking about an 'unfortunate accident' caused by someone who is 'not like that.'
Get well Dudu we'll do all we can for you. I know you're a strong character, you've overcome adversity in the past in your career and you can do the same again. In the meantime lets get him a Championship medal and make sure that filth Taylor does NOT get away with it
I would just like to say after seeing the picture of Taylor grinning that I am sick to my stomach, a football ban should not be the end of such an incident and if bosily harm was meant then serious actions should be taken.
Fuck all your liberal thinking man's opinions, that was a pre meditated tackle if i ever saw one.Why go in studs up if you dont intend to hurt someone,i've fucking had enough of these fucking duffers kicking lumps out of us every game and as for those scouse cunts on motd only them can call that tackle clumbsy like he clipped his heels or something....ahhh bollox anyway, cunts to a man bfc and gray hansen and that closet case lawrenson,i need a large one.
http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/england/article1906193.ab?service=galleryFlash
I'm all for banning the dolt but please use a clearer picture. Do not intentionally use a blurred picture to serve your purpose better. From the link above, I think Taylor is not sneering, but grimacing too at the horror injury.
And how can anyone say the dropped points does not matter anymore? It is what players like Eduardo are fighting for. He did not fight to see his team comeback, fluff chances to put the result safe (our world class topscorer!) and concede a silly penalty at the end.
I wouldnt have sat on the pitch and cried. But I would have kicked the boards, kicked adebayor, kicked clichy... and then visit Eduardo at the hospital
The team let Eduardo down. It is as simple as that.

Even now, the morning after I cannot find words that accurately describe my anger and disgust with Martin Taylor, say what u will but that fucking cunt is smiling! so to say he was satisfied with the result of his challenge. In the governed world we live in he will get away with his smile, noone with the power to act accordingly will do but you know what I hope that man spends the rest of his years in fear of the day he gets jumped in the street and has the living day lights beaten out of him. Ill laugh so hard ill spit in his bloody face!
I think that some of the comments (especially the earlier ones) stating that Taylor should never play again are ridiculous. There was no intent behind the challenge and as has been said - it was just clumsy; "Eduardo was just too quick for him" - to quote Mcleish. He will probably serve a 2 or 3 match ban because it was a bad tackle and a deserved red, but no longer than that. Perhaps if he admitted (which of course he wouldn't) it was premeditated, then he should never play again, but I can guarantee it was purely accidental. A red card was given, and a red card was just.
End of.
I hope he gets better though, in fact - I hope he plays football again.
Some of the comments on here are ridiculous. Its not a case of 'i dont care what enyone thinks he is smiling' because he actually isnt. And isnt it strange how people react with such hate? Taylor made an error which for Eduardo sadly has terrible consequences. But I fail to see any intent whatsoever. As for the comment by some imbecile who said they hope he lives in fear of getting 'jumped in the street' you really need to think about what you are saying. This is competitive sport where accidents and injuries will happen/ Taylor is not a rapist or a convicted murderer and does not deserve the kind of mob hated-filled responses which are evdient on this board. And to say you will laugh if it does happen just shows your own problems, undermining any of your apparent sympathy with Eduardo. It really worries me that people are increasingly driven by hate, by a desire to see harm inflicted on people, and to basically ignore the facts and the reality of modern football where occasionally bad mistime injuries happen. Oh and if Eduardo didn't get the injury he did and just got up I seriously doubt anyone would have mentioned that tackle today - even during coverage it didn't look malicious, just mistimed - something which happens every single game.
right im sorry i knwo that the first annonomous comment was a while ago and i haevnt read them all so i apologise if what i have said has been changed in the lower comments, bu ti was so annoyed with the anonomous person that i felt the need to write this.
anyway onto the point, i have seen the pictures, and to me (in my opinion so dont start having ago) that he cant possibly be goign for the ball as the ball is on the other edge of the screen tbh its nowhere bloody near him, and even if it was the challange at that height would have been going over the ball anyway, maybe he didnt mean to cause all of taht damage, but lets me honest he wasnt goign to get the ball and thought il get the man (and had proberly been told by his coaches about the bully arsenal tacktics and been told to "let him know that your there")so taht is the best you can make of it, and all this shit abotu hes not a malicous player hes a lovely guy, if you knew a lovely guy taht ranodmly killed someone does it make him any less of a murderer? should he not go to jail coz generally hes a nice bloke? no thats bollux hes done it once and could do it again. he may have intended to get the ball but he didnt pull out when he knew he wasnt going to get it.
now if he wasnt a malicous player when you realise your not going to get the ball why not put your studs down?
thats what i wanna no, and edwardo was on the floor in agony with cesc panicking looking at him while the guy whu got sent off sat there and the other players surrounded the ref complaining ( i dont no if the guy showed any signs of compassion after i apologise if he did but i didnt see it i just sawe him sitting on the floor feeling sorry for hiself)
I had a tackel bit like this on me and i only had ligaments (thank god).
Im a Man U fan, but when you see something like that, it doest matter! (like with peter chec)
at first it didnt seem as a bad tackel, and ive watched it over and over. ive seen worst tackel where the player gets up from it.
But anyway, how it happened and why and every other question dont matter; just want to wish Eduardo all the luck and hope to god that it hasnt ended him playing
Anybody have any details of the number of red cards Martin Taylor has received in his career? I've Googled but have to confess I can't find any...and as an ex Blackburn player I'd expected to find more than a few mentioned.
Like you, I’m angry and hope that Eduardo will still have a career once his leg is mended. Having said that, though, whilst it was an appalling “tackle”, does it belong in the same grade as the two footed “assault” that broke Diaby’s leg two years back? Or, come to that, Roy Keane’s on Haarland several years back?
How many over the top one-footed tackles that do NOT cause injury are forgotten the following day?
I’m not trying to decry the incident but suspect that we’re all upset and lashing out as a result.
To be quite honest, I think I’m more angry with AdeB, a long time favorite of mine. The Samson comparison, haircut and all, is too appropriate. Obviously the Phillistines blinded him to the fact that Bendtner would have had a tap in. 3-1 and all over so that Clichy’s abberation followed by a Dean abberation would not have mattered a jot. Gf60
even though the link has been taken off youtube, its available on www.fottytube.com. its truly a horrific injury and taylor should be held responsible.
Martin Taylor - THE BUTCHER OF BIRMINGHAM
Taylor is a fucking bastard he meant the challange you can see him smirking in some of the photo's. Are thoughts go out to Eduardo we wish him a speedy recovery lets hope Arsenal go onto win the league for him.
Goonergirl still wound up then...all the previous anon comments which said attacks on Taylor are 'ridiculous' are true and even more so the day later. He was going for the ball, just look at the film again, Eduardo flicked the ball away from him. Also it happened in such a small space, he had not intent to get leg. At least Wenger has the sense to come out and retract his statement (and he at least had a real reason to be totaly emotional and livid right after the game) but some on here are so sure of themselves - something which is always a sure sign that they are probably wrong.
And as for all this ending comments with 'period' and the like - do you really think that makes your arguments watertight or any more right? No you use them just to shut out debate which is likely to reveal your ignorance
Also this smirking thing is rubbish but typical of people who just want to dish out punishment regardless of the facts.
Its strange how people feel its okay to base their arguments on not only speculation but on no facts at all (goonergirls attempt to work out what Taylor was thinking for example). Also to the same poster your cause and effect argument which you link to a murderer who was a lovely bloke is absurd. First football is a competitive sport where tackles go wrong, it is physical - bad things happen all the time. Second such an argument can only work if you are sure that he meant it...and i am not (like most sensible people!). If you want to punish someone for accidentally injuring him then a whole loads of players are going to face sanctions in the future, unless of course you would prefer non-contact at all?
Whoever left the comment about stopping tackles like that will make the game a "non contact sport" is a fucking idiot. Its a fact that if the tackle was not that high the damage would not have been as severe. If the challenge was along the floor (where the ball was) then the damage would have not been as bad. Ban Taylor for the length Eduardo is out at least, I feel a public apology to Eduardo and the Arsenal team-mates is needed. I dont care about dropping the two points (even though both goals came from legitimate tackles) 3 points clear is good enough for now we must care more about Eddy's health. Hope you put the shirt back on! I will be there to watch you.
Nick - nice language first of all, that really helps your point!
Its not a case of stopping such tackles, of course anyone sensible wants to see that. The point though (which you missed entirely) is that sometimes in high-speed professional sports players get it wrong. Does that mean the tackle wasn't bad? No. Does it mean he shouldn't get punished in some way? No. Does it mean it isn't tragic what happened to Eduardo? No!. Crucially the point didn't say that stopping tackles like that would result in a non-contact sport - so your the idiot for letting your pent-up emotions dictating what you read. It means that sometimes bad things happen and will continue to happen - I expect most footballers and other professional sports men and women will recognise that in a way you seemingly cannot. Taylor in my mind (and no Wengers it seems) did't intend that to happen at all, just in a game of a speed we can't comprehend he was found out by a quality player which had terrible consequences.
It was a disgraceful tackle, but most places that i have seen the video played are looking at it in a bad way. Eduardo passed the ball milliseconds before the tackle was made, his reaction speeds will not be that good. He could have put his feet down, but it may not have made much difference at that speed. Red card offence still though.
In answer to the question posed earlier, Taylor has had 2 red cards and 7 yellow cards in 8 years, so you cant call him a vicious player. Yes he is seen smiling, but also apologizing to him. and he hadn't seen the injury by that point.
As an arsenal fan, it has been a pleasure to watch Eduardo in the past few months, i hope he recovers quickly to full health, and with no England in Euro 2008 i will be rooting for the team that this man spent so much effort putting into the competition.
morgi
apologys, mis counted 6 yellow cards. Just to get the facts right. And those reds includes yesterdays game
He was NOT smiling why are people sucked in by such nonsense?
The tackle was beyond ugly....First of all the incident happens in the middle of the park and yet he comes as if Eduardo is about to score a goal. He looks like a bull who's just seen red. Secondly his foot is way too high and he has his studs pointing direvtly towards Dudu's ankle. He has not just mistimed a tackle.........Seriously he was at fault in many places in that incident. He shouldn't be banned for life but a three match ban is way too short. Another point which I believe is way too underlined is the fact that these tactics where players are being told to go hard into tackles just to shake the opponents are basicly starting the whole riot. The whole idea is that when you can't tecnically play at the same level as your opponent you have to take other methods in use......Seriously guys don't you agree?
Tottenham fan - I hope he can recover as quickly as possible. It doesn't matter that he is an arsenal player we always find it amusing when someone gets hurt but only when it is a dead leg or nothing serious. But this is career ending and I hope he will be able to recover and play football again. No one deserves this even an arsenal player
I think you will find taylors grin was not because he was happy it was a complete shock reaction. He didnt no how to react it was a nervous grin because he knew he had caused a bad injury. Do you really think he ment to break his leg. I dont. if he had come in from the other side eduardo would have frobably suffered from just a broken ankle it was made worse as your ankle does not bend inward very much.
I am still in two minds about the intent of the tackle. I think that Taylor and the Birmingham players had been told to get on the pitch and let Arsenal know that they are there. Due to this I belive Taylor wanted to win the ball with a strong challenge which will also let Eduardo know he is there. Although I cannot explain why his foot was so high? That makes me feel that their was more intent to get the player. Regardless of whether Eduardo moved the ball or not that tackle was to high for Taylor to win it.
And as for the comments from "Anonymous" I did not miss the point about them challenges being cut out makes the game non-contact I was saying that I felt the tackle was too clumbsy for the captain of a premierleague team and the force he went into it was un-needed which leads to belive the tackle was not fair atall and could be done without in the game
tottenham fan here. my view is this, Taylor wanted to play the ball but also to go through edurado and let him know whos boss. eduardo nicks it away from him with quick feet and we know what happens next. Malbranque made a similar horror tackle in our carling cup match against man city earlier this season however in this case the city players foot was not stcuk to the ground and the player went flying. malbranque got booked and i bet before the season is out we will see more of these tackles. if we banned every player who did this we'd be down 20+ players already this season (remember all the 2 footed challenges earlier this season?). i hope he recovers but that is just part of the game, it happens.
wish u best from greece :(:(
