Eduardo SPEAKS and is to "DEFINITELY RETURN"

Watch Live Video Streams From Here - Carling Cup Final Live

It has been reported in the Croatian press that Eduardo Da Silva spoke to his Croatia coach after his operation last night.

Bilić said: “He called me, said he was okay and will definitely return. I felt huge optimism in his voice and the will to return to the pitch. The important thing right now is that Eduardo is mentally strong and believes in his return, which will help his recovery.”

If this is true, it is encouraging news for everyone and we all hope to hear the official news on Monday. We all wish Eduardo a speedy recovery.

Eduardo Has Surgery/ Why Wenger Retracted His Comments?/Gallas’s tears...

By Bilal Zaidi

It has been reported that last night Eduardo had surgery and is now “recovering” in hospital.

Yesterday was a lot to take.

Eduardo’s season being ended and potentially more...a last minute penalty to draw 2-2 against 10 men and our potential 8 point lead minimized to 3 when Manchester United crushed Newcastle 5-1. But after all that emotion and drama, one thought still remains. Even though it sounds like something my mum would say to me, yesterday proved to everyone that football in life’s context is indeed ‘just a game’.

At times, football takes over for some, the emotion I felt a few years back when Arsenal lost dramatically to Barcelona in the final of the champions league proved to me how sickening certain scenarios can be.

But yesterday...that was another feeling altogether. In my life I have witnessed personally some disgusting, violent and ghastly scenes...but for some reason as I observed for 8 minutes on the TV at a person I have never met or spoken to, laying on the floor helpless just showed me how some things are taken for granted. As I wrote on here yesterday, I literally felt sick and after seeing on Match Of The Day last night the slow motion close up video, I am even more astounded as to how intricate and delicate our bodies are. Eduardo’s foot seemed like it was hanging loose from his leg.

After the game our captain Willy Gallas sat and cried and Wenger spoke aggressively of Taylor’s future in football saying: “Why is this player playing on a pitch”. He later retracted his comments and the reasons why are interesting.

Wenger is a calm character usually but yesterday was a one off, he wasn’t shouting or screaming like other managers might have done...but he said “why is this player playing on a pitch”. That is a strong comment to make for someone of Wenger’s character. He knew that it was going to be overhyped in the media that his words were “strong”...but where were the comments in the media questioning Mcleash’s comments of saying “there wasn’t much contact”? Surely that is even more absurd than Wenger’s comments?

On Gallas...I am not one to think people should be crying all over the place, especially when you are the captain of a young side on worldwide television, telling your rivals “I’m feeling weak”...but on Match Of The Day the pundits were typically insensitive. One said that Gallas was showing bad leadership qualities while it just showed to me personally how much this actually meant to Gallas. The emotion of Eduardo’s tragic day obviously was the main cause of the puppy tears that Gallas shed.

People react in different ways and even though I thought he should be keeping those times to himself or at least in the comfort of the dressing room, I thought the pundits on TV were outrageously critical and sheep like in their views. Mark Lawrenson seems to wear that same shirt every week (look out for it next time) and just nods along with whatever Alan Hansen has to say. What a biased media age we live in.

Wenger didn’t want to cause extra commotion over his comments and fair play to him, his comments were at the heat of the moment and emotional but that is football and that is real life...what he said about “Arsenal being kicked off the field” were nothing out of line...when McLeish himself said “we need to add steel against Arsenal” before the game...that is just another way of saying lets kick them off the field...and in this case...into the hospital and possibly out of a career in Eduardo’s case.

Wenger did the right thing to retract his comments even if many might agree with him, he did the right thing because he did what was right for the team and the club at this particular moment. Extra hostility and unnecessary media coverage will only work against us.
Lets just hope we can bounce back from this and Eduardo recovers to lead a normal life and becomes the footballer he has promised to be...good day all.

Alex McLeish, Sky Pundits - Lying Biased Bastards

After finding more pictures of the crazy 'challenge' on Eduardo, I am absolutely disgusted. I literally feel sick...

How many times have we heard football pundits this season talking about clamping down on two footed challenges, but forget two footed challenges when you SEE THIS. That is one leg, half way up Eduardo's SHIN...not even foot...that is ghastly, disgusting, butters, amazingly unacceptable.

For Alex Mcleish to say there was "not much contact" is ludicrous....even more so is the fact that Sky pundits were talking of "accidental challenge". Are you serious? Alex Mcleish becoming a football manager, that was an accident....not that challenge...biased bastards...if he did that outside a pub at 3am in the morning he would be arrested and put in jail for GBH...or terrorism...or just for being a complete and utter PRICK...anything...disgrace get off the pitch, apologize and retire, you vile vile man.

I am lost for words, our thoughts are with Eduardo Da Silva...a draw was annoying but regardless when things like this happen...lets hope the lads can win it for Eduardo now.

Eduardo Shocking Injury CLOSE UP PICTURE and video....

I was sent this by a friend, I don't know the legitamacy of the image but I thought I would share it anyway.

You can see the video on youtube.

I was watching it on Sky and I missed the challenge to be fair but the most surprising thing was that they didn't show a reply. In the words of the commentator: "We are not showing you the replay because we believe the footage is too horrific to broadcast". Oh My.

Eduardo is out for the season and from what we have heard so far, that is the least of anyone’s worries because in Wenger's words "more than the season is over". Wenger's post match interview and the players reactions showed that what happened to Eduardo was indeed "too horrific to broadcast" and I can just hope that we can see him playing football again.

Get well soon Eduardo, we all wish you the best.

Champions League Analysis - Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Celtic...FA Cup Reaction and Title Chances...

By Bilal Zaidi

I have been writing for TA Magazine as their 'specialist sports writer' and this was this months article on the Champions League, FA Cup reaction and title chances.

After a long break from European club football, the continents most prestigious tournament kicked off again on the 19th of February. For the British teams there were some tough ties lined up with Liverpool and Arsenal both facing Italy’s finest in Inter Milan and AC Milan respectively. Manchester United and Chelsea started their ties away to Lyon and Olympiakos, and Celtic the only Scottish team left played host to Barcelona.

Liverpool were the only side to achieve a victory after scoring two late goals to beat Inter 2-0 while Chelsea played out for a 0-0 away draw. Carlos Tevez scored a late equaliser to cancel out Benzema’s impressive opener to give Manchester United a vital away goal taking them into the second leg at home to the French champions. Arsenal dominated the home tie against AC Milan and were unlucky not to snatch at least one goal in the last minute where Adebayor hit the bar with a header from young Theo Walcott’s cross. Celtic will be disappointed after leading twice to Catalan giants Barcelona and letting that lead slip away to lose 3-2 with Messi scoring twice and Arsenal old boy Henry also getting on the scoresheet.

What does this mean for each British football club left in the champions league? Liverpool have a great chance of progressing even with Inter having a formidable home record. Liverpool have been there before and they have a great chance of seeing out the tie. It is important to note that just as the Arsenal result, both home teams didn’t concede an away goal which in today’s modern competition is becoming increasingly important. Arsenal however, face an experienced AC Milan side away from home with a youthful team. Even though I fancy Arsenal to score away from home, it will be a big ask to win but a score-draw could be on the cards if Arsenal perform to their potential. It should suit Arsenal with AC Milan being less reserved at home and an open tie should be a great for the spectators. I think the 0-0 draw could suit Arsenal in that they will have to approach the second leg with a positive mentality which should produce an open game where either team could take it.

Manchester United will be very happy to have got that vital away goal against a fantastic team and I would expect United to progress by taking control at home as can be expected of Chelsea. Celtic showed how brave they were but it didn’t pay off in the end with Messi spoiling the show in Glasgow, but for them to get this far is still a big achievement.

The next month should prove to be an interesting one for both the Champions League and the Premiership with Arsenal currently sitting five points clear of Manchester United. However, with Manchester United knocking the Gunners out of the FA Cup recently, the psychological advantage could be in Alex Ferguson’s camp. The 12th of April could prove to be a vital day in the title run in when Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to play for a potential ‘six pointer’. Only time will tell what the season will unfold into but it is clear to be one of the closest title challenges in modern history with three teams still definitely in it. Chelsea have to play Arsenal and United at home so they could still be in it, but most would agree it is now down to Manchester United and Arsenal to slug it out in the last 12 games remaining in the season.

The FA Cup result should have little significance in the title race apart from proving that Manchester United have a stronger squad than Arsenal. Whether Arsenal’s best eleven can go all the way to keep at the top of the table will be interesting to see and will depend a lot on the fitness of key players. A lot can happen in 12 games, that is a potential 36 points still to play for each team. Perhaps with the FA Cup out of Arsenal’s reach it could prove to mean they stay more focussed on the domestic league while Manchester United have one more headache to worry about. Or, it could work in the opposite way to spur Manchester United onto achieve even greater things with the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League all still to play for.

The coming months will prove to be vital and it will boil down to which team wants it more. I have a sneaky feeling that there may be some surprises to come along the way, watch this space...
