So…here it is, the video that shows Wayne Rooney clearly starts falling before Almunia makes (minimal) contact. I condemned Eduardo’s dive in midweek. I will do the same here. They are almost identical (apart from contact which came after the initial dive towards the floor before contact).
Eduardo started falling before contact because he expected contact. Rooney did the same, started falling like he had just been shot in his left buttox and got a small clip from Almunia after making movement to the ground.
What are the racist British Media (I’m British before anyone starts to call me a racist, even though I am often quite racist to my own kind) going to say about this? Well Andy Gray seems to think it was a penalty 100% and that Darren Fletcher’s two footed lunge on Arshavin was just a super-challenge. What would he have said if El Hadji Diouf had flown into Arshavin like Bin Laden on a 747?
