Arsenal
At the time of writing, Fabregas is rated 50-50 by Wenger to start for Arsenal. To give a good account of themselves at Old Trafford, Arsenal will need to be at full strength, which means they will need Fabregas fit and ball-hungry. However, even without the influential Fabregas, there remains plenty of midfield strength in the Gunners’ squad. Fabregas’ hamstring injury is improving all the time and it is certain that the Arsenal physios will be under orders to have their captain ready for kick-off.
Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky are all ruled out of this clash and Diaby may be rested after playing in Arsenal’s last three games.
As already mentioned, it is strange that Van Persie has not scored yet this season, especially as he was ante-post favourite to be the Gunners’ top scorer. However, as with all successful teams, goals have not been hard to come by for Arsenal. Furthermore, the goals have been coming from a variety of players in a variety of positions. Always a sign of a good squad.

Head-to-head
Arsenal have a decent record at Old Trafford. Over the past few seasons, they have managed to beat United twice there in the league and gained a few valuable draws. United’s 6-1 mauling of Arsenal in February 2001 will not be mentioned on this website. United are always a stronger force when playing in front of their own fans. Last season, only Liverpool beat them at Old Trafford. However, with the form that Arsenal are in this season, and with their decent record at the ground, United could find themselves up against it on Saturday evening.

Verdict
Arsenal are in terrific form and are banging in goals for fun. United have has a stuttering start to the season and appear to be still finding their feet after Ronaldo’s departure. Both teams will be highly motivated for this fixture so it may come down to who wants the victory more. United’s squad has more experience, but Arsenal have youth and enthusiasm on their side. Arsenal’s chances of winning will be greatly enhanced by Fabregas lining up at 17.15. United are very tempting at odds against but  with so much at stake in such a high profile game between two evenly matched teams, a draw is perhaps the most likely outcome against a high flying Arsenal.
