This is an unusual post - excuse my randomness but keep reading on.
I have been working with the internet since I was 11 years old but it still amazes me. Because of the internet, this amazing world seems so small to me.
This site has had visitors from 184 countries in the past year but it has allowed such a vast array of people from all parts of the globe to connect without it feeling like such a chore.
I am a genuine lover of people and this post is a call for us all to connect with each other. Yes we are Arsenal supporters and this is a passion we all share with each other, but, we all live “real lives” also, working, studying, eating, sleeping and enjoying life’s most beautiful moments. Every week on Twitter and on this site, I share Arsenal moments with people from all over the place. However, this got me thinking and begged the question, why stop there?
The re-design of this website was specifically designed to make it more social. We have moved from a web that has changed from static web pages of information to a much more social “Web 2.0″.
I have just created an “Arsenal Fans Group” on Linkedin, the professional networking website. By creating this group I hope to:
- Connect with other Arsenal supporters in a general sense.
- Connect with other Arsenal fans for professional networking specifically.
- Share and learn from other people from a career point of view.
This website is my personal playground to discuss with fellow football fans the happenings of Arsenal FC. But, I also see it as a hub to connect with real people who share a common passion. If you want to talk football with me or one of the sites writers, you can leave comments on the blog, send an e-mail from the contact form or connect on Twitter via @arsenalreview and @bzaidi.
However, if you are also interested in connecting for a productive purpose, to share our thoughts on other issues, learn and grow with each other, then Linkedin is a great place to start. You can:
- Join the Arsenal Fans Group I just set up on linkedin.
- Connect with me personally on linkedin.
- Connect with others on the group if you feel you can both gain from knowing each other.
I genuinely would love to get to know more of you. I am sure our life’s path could be made more productive by collaborating in the long run. Feel free to drop me an e-mail any time from the contact form, telling me:
- Your name
- Where you are connecting from
- A bit about yourself, what you do for a living / study
- Any other randomness you feel to share
We are in an era that allows us to really collaborate and gain from each others relationships in a way that hasn’t been possible before. Lets make our love for Arsenal a common ground to exchange value and help each other in the long run.
This is a community just like any other, lets make the most out of it.
P.S - We have a new comments system on the site. It’s the Disqus system which means you don’t have to sign up anymore, you can simply leave a comment using your Facebook or Twitter account. See below, comments are welcomed as always.
